Title: Cruel Crown
Author: Victoria Aveyard
Publisher: HarperTeen
Date Published: January 5, 2016
Format: Paperback
Star Rating: 2 out of 5 stars
Synopsis:
This book contained two prequels to Red Queen, Queen’s Song and Steel Scars. While Queen’s Song follows Coriane, a Silver, as she is pulled into the political world of a prince. In Steel Scars we follow a Red, also a member of the Scarlet Guard, which seems to be a rebellion of some sorts fighting for the rights of the Red citizens.
My Thoughts:
I wasn’t really a fan of either one of these stories. On Goodreads it shows that they are prequels to the Red Queen series, but I’m wondering if things would have made more sense to read them in order of publication. I just couldn’t follow anything, especially in Steel Scars.
Characters That Stood Out:
There wasn’t enough substance to either of these for any one character to stand out.
Would I recommend:
As I’ve yet to read Red Queen, I would say no. I’m sure it would make sense if I had more of a backstory to this backstory, but as of right now, I could have done without reading this.
