Hello and good morning! I have promised before to post my fall reading routine, and so I deliver! But first I wanted to give a gigantic heart-felt thank you to my readers, friends and family. I quite recently had a small surgery done to diagnose/treat endometriosis. The support that I have gotten since opening up about it was so overwhelming, it’s just unbelievable. It’s been almost over a week since I’ve had it done, and though my body is still healing and I’m still uncertain as to what I face in the next few weeks/months, my spirit and mind are on the mend and it feels amazing.
That aside, I am ready to share my cozy fall reading routine!
Baby It’s Cold Outside!
The weather is starting to change, so first thing I do upon waking is pull on something warm and comfy. When I don’t plan on leaving the house, my ultimate reading outfit is a onesie pajama set. And of course you can’t forget the fuzzy slipper socks.
Now I don’t know about you, but I always wake up with a bad case of bleary sleep eye. In order to scrub out those eye boogers, I go through my usual ritual of washing my face and brushing my teeth.
Once I’ve woken myself up a little, I make my way downstairs and grab a full glass of water. I then proceed to make myself cozy with a blanket and a good book.
Normally I read in my office, but with it starting to cool down, my office is actually the coldest room to be in. And so I’ve been making a cozy little corner for myself in my living room. I keep my TBR pile right on this little table ledge where it’s in sight every day. This is fast becoming my favorite place to read in the house, period.
But, back to the routine, I will sit here and read until my glass of water is empty.
Setting A Timer
This may seem weird, but I like to set a thirty minute timer while I’m reading. This reminds me to get up and stretch every so often, or to not forget about that load of laundry I’ve got waiting in the dryer.
Breakfast!
By the time my water is gone, my stomach is growling that it needs fed. While I’m eating, I am taking a break from reading and either watching TV, YouTube, or catching up on social media. Not only is this to keep me from getting burnt out, this is also to save my precious books from sticky syrup marks.
Once I’ve cleaned up from breakfast, then it’s time to really get serious about reading. I like to light one of my candles from Bath and Body Works to really set the mood for fall. While reading, I make sure that there is a glass of water on hand at all times.
Reading Multiple Books
The timer also comes in handy when I’m reading multiple books at once. If I seem to be barely crawling through a book, it allows me to switch things up to prevent a reading slump. People have asked me before why I read more than one book at a time. I am usually reading a really thick fantasy, an ebook, and a smaller paperback all at one time. It usually just depends on where I’m reading, as I prefer to have my ebook with me for work and travel.
The most important part of my reading routine, though, is to read. No matter if I’m at work, in the truck, at home or not.
That is it for my reading routine! I hope you all enjoyed, and until next time………………
