Summer Hiatus Is Over!

I’m back!  Oh my gosh, it feels so good to just put my fingers on a keyboard and write.  Alright, so the last time I was on here I was being Little Miss Dramatic with my “exciting life update” and since then I’ve been AWOL from all things social media.  So exciting, right?

What’s Been Going On

Other than some book reviews, I haven’t posted anything since the beginning of May.  It wasn’t long after that post went up that I heard back about my job interview results and here’s the verdict…………..I didn’t get the job.  That is not the reason I went on hiatus.  Yes, I was depressed and really hard on myself for about a week.  But you know what?  Deep down I know that the people who got the position deserve it and are going to do great and it just gives me more time to work on myself professionally.

The reason I went on hiatus was simple.  I wanted to enjoy my summer with my family.  Just about every summer so far I’ve worked a ridiculous amount of overtime and my summer just disappears.  But I made the decision to be a normal person and go outside.  Soak up some rays……..you know enjoy life!

August Goals

Diet and Exercise.  While on hiatus, I was working really hard to get back to a routine of sorts.  I hadn’t exactly fallen off of my diet since it’s a habit now to reach for fruits and veggies instead of a bag of chips.  It’s no longer a struggle for me to make healthier choices.  So really I want to just tone up my diet and incorporate a workout into my routine at least three days a week.  I’ve definitely seen positive results more recently and I couldn’t be happier.  I do have plans to share more on my current diet in the very near future.

Reading.  Prior to going on hiatus, I’d been struggling hardcore with wanting to read.  I just had so much other stuff going on and when I did manage to pick up a book I felt like I was forcing myself to just for the sake of a book review.  I’ve only just gotten back into reading within the last week or so and I’m only reading when I want to.  That said, I have a goal to read ten books this month.  But if I don’t get that much, no worries.

Chores, chores, and more chores.  I say chores, but they aren’t really.  The main project I need to focus on is reorganizing my bookcases.  They are atrocious and they’ve been that way for months and, at this point, I just can’t take it.  I figured while I’m doing that, I want to spruce up my office a little bit.  I don’t know if I’ll be painting or doing anything that big, but I know I want to do something different with it.

I really am excited to be back to blogging again. Even with a massive headache that is nearly debilitating, I’m so happy to be back in my element. Thanks for reading!
