Short Synopsis:

Caroline Carruthers moved to Redemption, Texas, as a way to start over after her husband died. Opening her own bookstore is her dream. Jackson McBride is starting over in this small town of Texas after his divorce, his music dried up. For both, love is the last thing on their mind.

My Thoughts:

I hated this. Nothing against the author as the writing wasn’t bad. The story was bad. The characters were bad. Worse than bad. When I could care less if a couple got together, that makes for a miserable romance.

The idea of two lost and hurt souls starting over together was great but the deliverance wasn’t there. I found the characters’ interactions with one another cool at best and made me believe Caroline and Jackson were friends, not a couple. The only convincing relationship that I found in this book was when Jackson interacted with his ex-wife. And it wasn’t in a good way. The way he went about his relationship with his ex made me hate Jackson and want to curse at Caroline for being dumb enough to be okay with the whole ex living down the street. And kissing her! That sealed in that one star rating for me.

Would I Recommend:

I could not recommend this to anyone. I couldn’t stand the characters and I especially didn’t enjoy the romance in this.
