a day in my life

Hello all! I get so excited when I see YouTubers post vlogs or “A Day In The Life” type of content. My life might not be that exciting, but I figured I would keep track of a typical day in my life and share it with you. If anything, this will kind of help show how I sort of have my @#$% together lately.

The first thing I do when I roll out of bed is immediately wash my face and brush my teeth. Then I’ll spend the next half hour or so doing my normal skincare routine and getting dressed for the day. I had a busy day planned for this day, so by 8:30 I had the rest of the house up and getting ready. Our biggest project/adventure for the day was to get groceries. We normally get the bulk of our groceries every two weeks, so grocery shopping is usually a two to three hour thing.

We got home a little before noon, and I took my time putting everything away. I sent my husband and step-daughter to their separate rooms to relax and do their own thing. Mostly to get them out of my hair but also because I wanted some content for a healthy grocery haul post. Then I spent a few minutes going over my planner to see what else I had on my list to get done. Something that I’ve been doing since the beginning of the year is plan out my workouts and school work for the entire week then plan out more details of my days the night before. A tip that I have, if you’re going to plan, is to not overcommit your time. Meaning don’t go scheduling a hundred different things for a single day.

By 1:00 I was geared up to tackle my first workout of the day. For anyone that is curious, I am currently tackling two Beachbody workout programs: 9 Week Control Freak and 30 Day Breakaway. I know that is insane, especially as I am attending school and working full-time. I might do a post for how I schedule my workouts around my schedule in the future. Also, this was extremely late for me. Normally, I am getting my first workout in first thing in the morning, whether that be 3:00 AM or 8:00 AM. It all depends on my work schedule.

After my workout, I had a quick lunch with my family, Netflix and Chill style. I also did some adult things (aka took the pile of dishes out of the sink and put them in the dishwasher). Now that I look back, that was the only adult thing that I did. The bulk of that rest period was watching Netflix.

At 3:00 I got in my second workout, this one being Day 9 of the 30 Day Breakaway program. My legs were killing me after this, but I was so proud of myself because I was able to bump up quite a bit in weights. Needless to say, I sat in my office for a little bit after that. I took advantage of this “rest” time to work on some more adult things like paying bills. And working on blog content.

I got in my last workout of the day in a little after 4:00. I know this seems like a lot of exercise to be crammed in in such a short amount of time. However, I knew that the later in the evening it got, the more my motivation would begin to slack. Also, my husband wanted us to spend a few hours this evening with his parents and sister as we had missed out on this years New Years Eve party with them. This was a last minute plan, so again it was so important that I didn’t try to cramp too much onto my schedule for the day. And things like my workouts are a priority for me so I get them done as soon as possible. Fun fact, I was glad that this was my last workout of the day because midway through I fell when trying to do one of the moves. I happened to be doing it in my office since I didn’t need any weights and subsequently I fell into my bookshelves. Don’t worry, my books are fine! It just hurt like the dickens.

With that embarrassing moment behind me, I did a quick body shower before heading over to my in-laws. We hadn’t planned for staying more than an hour or two but somehow we didn’t get home until 10:00. We finished the night by watching a little bit of a movie before finally heading to bed for the evening.

So this was one of the days that I have off from work. I also got the bulk of my schoolwork done at the beginning of the week. It was kind of nice having those few hours throughout the day to just relax. That’s not a normal thing for me.
