Hello all! Recently I posted my morning work routine and I shared that I prep my lunch bag ahead of time to save time in the morning. It gave me the idea to share with you what I pack in my bag to take to work with me. For this post, I had to share everything from my home, as it is against company policy to take pictures in the building.
What Does My Break Schedule Look Like?
As many of you know, I work a 12-hour shift. I’m usually there by 5:30 AM and don’t leave until close to 6:30 PM, so technically 13 hours. Recently, my break times have shifted so my first break usually isn’t until 10:30 AM. My second break is always 2:00 PM. My last break, if I’m lucky enough to get one, is anytime from 4:00-5:00 PM. Quite often, I find myself taking a “working break”, meaning I’m doing some kind of office work during that time.
Pre-Work
As I shared in that post with my morning routine for work, if I’m working out I will have a protein shake and pre-workout before I even leave the house. On my way to work, I usually will either be finishing that pre-workout or having a can of Alani Nu or Celsius. This morning I accidently slept through my alarm to wake up early enough to work out, so needless to say I barely had time to get gas. So I just had a can of Alani Nu for the road.
First Break
I take little containers of hydrate and BCAA’s and such to keep me going all day long. The first thing I do when I get to work is refill my shaker bottle and put one of those in there. If I hadn’t finished my pre-workout or smoothie from the morning, I make sure that I finish those first. I keep it in the office area and will sip that throughout the day. But, on to my first meal. I treat my first break as my breakfast, even though it’s quite a few hours after I’ve woken up. If I’m running low on time and couldn’t prep, I will pack cereal, my favorite being this protein kind from Special K as well as a Hydro Flask of oat milk. Luckily, I had a little more time to prep for this, so first break I had a little breakfast bowl, which is my favorite thing to make. The bottom has roasted red potatoes, with egg whites, spinach, sliced up sausage, peppers, and topped with cheddar cheese. Relatively low calorie and so damn delicious! I also used this break to refill my shaker bottle again and take the bulk of my vitamins during this break.

Second Break
By my second break, I am usually so hungry. I used to pack smaller lunches, but lately I’ve made this second break a more filling meal to hold me over for the rest of the day. I try to get in a carb, a protein, and a lot of veggies in this meal. On this day I had some stuffed shells that I made from Beachbody’s Fixate program with a side of steamed broccoli. When I make fancy meals like this, I will make three times the recipe and then use it for my lunches. My husband actually enjoyed this so much that he had some for his lunch that day as well. Again, I filled up my shaker bottle for the last time that day.

Last Break/Working Break
Since my last break is usually a “working break” I started packing smaller snacks that I can eat or snack on while in the office. I don’t pack salads or anything like that anymore as I try to be considerate and not stink up the office with my food. Some of my recent snacks were protein bars that I chop ahead of time or a container of fruit. Knowing that I had very “heavy” meals and a bigger than normal smoothie, I went very light on the snacks. I did pack a small container of cotton candy grapes as well as a banana and my favorite snacks recently which are the oatmeal protein bars from Kodiak Cakes. Me coming on here to edit this later, I didn’t have time to eat past my second break. So I didn’t eat any of this!

After Work
After work, my husband and I are usually still pretty hungry. I was just exhausted and tired from the day and we had to shovel snow the moment we got home again. So I ended up making myself a Cup of Noodles and drinking a can of Smirnoff. By 9:00 I was half dead and ready for bed.
I hope you enjoyed this “what I eat in a day”! If you like this kind of content, be sure to follow, like, or leave a comment below. Thank you so much for reading and until next time……………..
