Hello all! I get a lot of questions (mostly from colleagues) about how in the world I’m able to wake up at 3:00 AM to work out and then go to work for 12+ hours. The simple answer to that is that I prep as much as I can the night before so I can zombie my way through my morning routine without much thought. So I decided to show you a typical night for me and how I prep myself for an early morning.
Prep My Food/Supplements
I’ve shared this before, but my lunches are always meal prepped days in advance. The first thing I do in the evening is make sure my lunch bag is completely packed and the whole thing is put in the fridge. My vitamins that I take throughout the day are also prepped in this little container that I got from my GNC pro box. I prep a shaker bottle with pre-workout and leave it on the kitchen counter so that first thing when I come downstairs in the morning all I have to do is fill it with water and go. I try to plan ahead of time if I’m going to have a plain protein shake or if I’ll have a smoothie. A plain protein shake makes it a little easier, which again I’ll prep in a shaker the night before so that I just need to add water after my workout. If I plan on making a smoothie, I will do my best to portion out everything I’ll be adding the night before. I also will take my blender down and put it next to my shaker bottles on the counter with a small recipe next to it. The goal is to make my mornings as hassle-free as possible.

Relax/Unwind

Almost immediately after I have my food and things prepped for the morning, my husband and I will round out the night in the living room. We’ve been trying different seltzers lately to kind of unwind after a rough day. I’ve been experimenting with faux margaritas as I am not a big drinker, usually just having a sip or two from my husband’s. But we’ll put the tv on and just sort of relax. He usually plays a game on his phone while I read a book or scroll through Instagram. It doesn’t matter how late it is, we really come to depend on this time, even if it’s only thirty minutes, to just let the stress of the day melt away. On the night that I was setting up this blog, I had the rest of my husband’s Smirnoff Seltzer, which might be my new favorite.
Tidy Up
Whether I just get home from work or if I’ve been off, I usually start to wrap up my night with just a little tidying up. I found that spending five minutes here and there saves me from having to spend hours on my days off. So I’ll either fold some clothes that need put away or run the dishwasher and wipe down the kitchen counters.

Prep My Clothes
Once it starts to get closer to bed-time, we will head upstairs and start getting ready for bed. I will set out two sets of clothes the night before, one for my workout and one for work. My workout clothes and shoes are placed on my nightstand right next to my bed. This makes it easier for me to roll out of bed and quickly dress without having to turn on a bunch of lights and make noise so that my husband can still sleep.

Self-Care
Even though I shower in the morning I don’t have time to wash my hair after my workout and then spend time to dry it. Also, it’s winter and I’m not about to go outside with sopping wet hair. So I will wash my hair every other night and throw it up in a bun when I sleep and workout. I’ve been doing this for a very long time and my hair is as healthy as ever. I try to refrain from using a lot of heat and products on it. My night starts to come to an end once I’ve had my shower. I will go through my nightly skincare routine, which is very similar to my morning routine. As I’m using my products, I’m careful to line them up for easy reach in the morning. And of course, brushing my teeth is part of my nightly routine.
Alarms
The last thing I do before crawling in to bed is to make sure I have my Hydro Flask full of water next to my head and set my alarms. Sometimes I will read a little bit before my husband shuts the light off. I need to buy another lamp so, for now, when the lights go off it’s time for bed. I’ve actually had my eyes set on a sunset alarm light.
I hope you enjoyed my night routine. If you want to see more content like this, be sure to follow, like, or leave a comment. Thank you so much for reading and until next time……………
