Update On My Writing: Camp NaNoWriMo?

With this month being the second round for this year’s Camp NaNoWriMo event, I figured this is the perfect time to give an update on my writing. I haven’t fully written anything or really given anything more than a half-hearted attempt since last November. That being said, I am not participating in Camp this July. However, I do want to use that motivation (specifically through my YouTube feed), to pick up my writing once more.

What Am I Working On?

If you didn’t already know, I was an avid writer from 12-18 years old. I did pick it up here and there as the years passed, but I don’t have the same creativity that I did when I was younger. If anything, the only thing I kept from my younger days was my inability to focus on one writing project at a time.

#1-Dark high school bully romance

#2-Mafia romance

#3-Cowboy/Rancher romance

Yes, I am slowly working my way through three completely different novels. And by “working on”, I mean that I have ideas for these books but haven’t made an attempt to go beyond that. The only problem right now is that I have no real structure for my writing. My health has really taken over my priorities (not that I’m complaining).

Creating Deadlines

For each book, I need to work on character profiles, setting details, writing a complete outline, and a completed first draft.

Mafia Romance

  • Character Profiles- July 12
  • Setting/World Building- July 19
  • Outline- July 26
  • First Draft- August 31

Dark High School Bully Romance

  • Character Profiles- September 7
  • Setting/World Building- September 14
  • Outline- September 21
  • First Draft- October 31

Cowboy Romance

  • Character Profiles- TBD
  • Setting/World Building- TBD
  • Outline- TBD
  • First Draft- TBD

The mafia and DHSB books are my two main priorities right now merely because those are the two that are giving me the most motivation and creativity vibes. Again, that may be because of all the dark romance novels I’ve been reading. I don’t normally do well with deadlines so I’m kind of nervous to see how this goes. I will try to do a monthly recap of my writing progress from here on out as a way to hold myself accountable.

If you are currently participating in July’s Camp NaNoWriMo, happy writing! Thank you so much for reading and until next time……………
