Kicking Off NaNo Prep

If you’re reading this, you may be experiencing some anxiety at the thought that NaNoWriMo is still more than a month away. So why am I posting this now? Most people know October as Preptober and officially begin gearing up for NaNo then. However, NaNoWriMo has an official 6 week guide starting on September 13. They help writers develop story ideas and how to create characters and outlines. Normally, I try to go about this whole thing on my own which has resulted in me being so unprepared for NaNo that I give up early on and I feel like I’m missing out on one of the biggest community events for writers. So, I will be taking part in NaNo Prep!

NaNo Prep 101 Schedule

  1. Develop a Story Idea (September 13-19)
  2. Create Complex Characters (September 20-26)
  3. Construct a Detailed Plot or Outline (September 27 – October 3)
  4. Build a Strong World (October 4-10)
  5. Organize Your Life for Writing! (October 11-17)
  6. Find and Manage Your Time (October 18-24)

My Plans So Far

I am going to be working on my new adult dark romance novel during this time. Since starting working on this, I have struggled with everything from character development to worldbuilding. I have an idea of what I want, but I keep changing and trying to mold together different ideas that just don’t work. So I need to buckle down and just work through want I want out of this novel. I will be able to do more updates as I go through this guide.

Let me know if you are taking part in NaNo Prep or if you are waiting until Preptober! As always, thank you so much for reading and until next time…………
