If you’ve found this page, that tells me two things: you know what Preptober is or you’re currently researching Preptober.
Preptober: What is It?
Preptober is a play on words (duh) for prep and October. This month-long event is for writers prepping for NaNoWriMo in November. NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. I’m not going to go into a lot of details because I don’t want to waste your valuable writing time. If you want to find out more about NaNoWriMo just click on the link to go directly to the website. In short, you write a minimum of 50k words in 30 days. 50k words is essentially a full novel.
October is meant to be the month where you are preparing to write that novel.
Things to Prep
If you are taking the month of October to prep your writing, then there are a few things that you should be starting now:
- Determine what your novel is going to be about
- Characters Building
- World Building
- Outline
- Determine where you will be writing
- Gather Supplies
- Create a writing schedule that works for you
- Organizing your life to prioritize your writing
- How are you going to track your progress
